Entryway Upgrade:

Before- mirrors set in about 1/2 an inch, tile floors, yellowing walls:

After: no mirrors, fresh paint, and wood floors!

"Say what?" - Mantle Edition

The HAR pictures for L's house were insanely confusing.

This fireplace, in particular, left us puzzled:

was that another room through there?

was that a hanging mirror?

where do they hang their stockings?

(keep an eye on those ceiling beams too)

Upon inspection, we learned the walls above

and surrounding the fireplace were covered in custom-fitted mirrors,

and there was no real "mantle" in sight:

so off came the mirrors:

And on went our new mantle:

you can see where the beams were stripped away)

Add paint & crown molding and we got a real mantle!
